Announced January 8th, 2026

NVIDIA has hired Alison Wagonfeld, a former senior marketing executive at Google, as its first Chief Marketing Officer, according to the reporting by The Wall Street Journal. The appointment adds a new executive role to NVIDIA’s leadership structure, marking the first time the company has established a dedicated CMO position.

Wagonfeld spent nearly a decade at Google, most recently serving in a senior marketing leadership role at Google Cloud. In that position, she worked on enterprise and cloud-focused marketing initiatives during a period of expansion for Google’s infrastructure and services business. Her departure from Google and move to NVIDIA were also confirmed through a personal LinkedIn post.

Reporting indicates that Wagonfeld will oversee NVIDIA’s global marketing and communications functions and will report directly to NVIDIA founder and Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang. Prior to this appointment, NVIDIA operated without a formal chief marketing officer, with marketing leadership distributed across product and business units.

NVIDIA has not issued a standalone press release announcing the hire, nor has the company publicly outlined the scope, priorities, or organizational structure associated with the new role. No statements from Huang or other NVIDIA executives were included in the reporting, and the company has not disclosed whether the appointment is tied to any disclosed changes to its marketing strategy or internal organization.

The creation of a CMO position comes at a time when NVIDIA operates across multiple technology and industry segments, including data center infrastructure, enterprise computing, automotive platforms, and AI software ecosystems. However, the company has not publicly linked the hire to any specific strategic initiative or shift in commercial direction.

At this stage, the appointment establishes a new executive role rather than signaling defined changes in how NVIDIA approaches marketing or communications. Further details regarding Wagonfeld’s responsibilities and priorities are expected to emerge once she formally assumes the position and NVIDIA provides additional disclosures.
