ASUSTOR designs network attached storage (NAS) systems for a range of home, professional, and business environments. Its product lineup is organized into distinct platform families, each defined by form factor, storage approach, and intended deployment scale.
This page provides a high level overview of ASUSTOR’s NAS families and serves as an entry point to series level articles where individual platforms are described in more detail.
ASUSTOR NAS Product Families
Drivestor Series
The Drivestor series represents ASUSTOR’s entry level NAS platforms, intended for basic file storage, backup, and personal data management. These systems prioritize straightforward deployment and accessibility, making them suitable for home and light use environments.
Drivestor platforms are typically positioned as first time NAS systems or secondary storage devices rather than expandable, multi service platforms.
Nimbustor Series
Nimbustor systems occupy ASUSTOR’s mid range desktop tier and are designed for users who require greater processing power capability and networking flexibility than entry level platforms provide.
Nimbustor platforms are commonly used in enthusiast home setups and small office environments where general performance, multimedia support, and multi user access are important.
Lockerstor Series
The Lockerstor series forms ASUSTOR’s mainstream desktop platform for advanced home users and small-to-medium business use. Lockerstor systems are characterized by multi bay SATA storage, integrated NVMe support, and higher tier networking options within a desktop form factor.
Generation level differences within the Lockerstor family are covered in dedicated Lockerstor overview articles.
Flashstor Series
Flashstor platforms are ASUSTOR’s all-flash NAS systems, built exclusively around NVMe storage. These systems emphasize compact design, low latency, and high storage performance rather than large capacity hard drive configurations.
Rackmount Platforms
ASUSTOR also offers rackmount NAS platforms intended for rack based deployments. These systems are designed for environments that require centralized infrastructure, higher density hardware, or integration into existing server racks.
Rackmount platforms are treated as a separate category from ASUSTOR’s desktop families.
How the Families Differ
ASUSTOR’s NAS families are differentiated primarily by platform intent rather than individual specifications:
• Deployment scale: personal and home use through to business and rack based environments
• Storage approach: multi bay SATA platforms versus NVMe only designs
• Form factor: desktop systems vs rackmount hardware
